Peahala Park, LBI
Escape it all in this little vacation spot
Peahala Park is one of the little neighborhoods that were all incorporated into the Township of Long Beach in the 1800s. The name comes from the Peahala Gunning Clubhouse used by visiting hunters in the early 1900s.
Long Beach Island is a gem of the New Jersey Shore, 18 miles of sandy beaches and good times.
Today, the gunning club has been replaced with a wide array of beach houses and vacation rentals, ones that are likely more comfortable than the old gunning club, but some that still carry the same spirit of this magical place. Today’s Long Beach Island is very much about dazzling beach days, fishing, great restaurants, a vibrant art scene, and sunsets over the bay.
Generations have come to Peahala Park for the charm and nostalgia. This section of LBI has gorgeous beaches great for couples or families who wade out onto the sandbars for the rolling waves. Enjoy surfing, paddle boarding, kayaking and fishing outside the swimming areas.
This neighborhood isn’t far from Bayview Park, which is a hub of watersport activity with several local outfitters and camps offer stand up paddle boarding (SUP), kitesurfing, and kayaking.
Take morning walks, jogs, or bike rides along Beach Avenue, a safe, residential street that runs parallel to Long Beach Boulevard.
Drive into bustling Beach Haven for a night of arcade, amusements, mini golf, and great restaurants from tacos and burgers to seafood and fine dining.
