North Beach, LBI
North End Serenity
If you’re idea of a vacation is a morning bike ride, maybe some tennis, laying out on a towel, a dip in the ocean, and grilling fish on the back deck without the noise and distractions of a “tourist” town, North Beach is for you.
Long Beach Island is something of a hidden gem to the Tri State area, with 18 miles of sandy beaches. North Beach is one of the stretches of Long Beach Island that was incorporated into Long Beach Township in the 1800s. It sits between Surf City to the south and Harvey Cedars to the North.
This is some of the most exclusive real estate at the New Jersey Shore, on LBI second only to Loveladies. But where Loveladies rentals are mostly sprawling estates, many North Beach vacation rentals are cozier and more affordable beach cottages. Most also offer access to the Barnegat Bay, with endless opportunities for boating, fishing, crabbing, sailing, and paddling.
Because of the limited beach access, the beaches are much less crowded than other towns on Long Beach Island.
Want romance? You may find yourself and your significant other virtually alone on the beach some evenings, even in the summer.
Kids will love the fun in the sun and sea. The beaches are guarded by the Long Beach Township Beach Patrol. Surfing, stand up paddleboarding and kayaking are allowed outside the flags.
There are no businesses or restaurants in North Beach, which add to the peace and quiet, but depending where you rent, the amenities of Surf City – the Yellowfin restaurant, galleries, or the many ice cream shops are all a walk, bike ride, or short drive down Long Beach Boulevard.
