EVERYTHING THAT YOU FEAR IN A SUMMER RENTAL.

PICTURES ARE MISLEADING!!! Renting this house is a big mistake! The house was extremely dirty upon our arrival. Trash inside the house left under the furniture. Bathrooms not sanitized. During a pandemic one would expect the owner would make sure the house was extremely, clean inside. Instead there were dirty band aids and trash let by the previous tenants. Picture attached. We had to send this picture to request a re-clean which delayed our entrance to the home by over 2 hrs and we lost the entire day. After finally getting into the house the thermostat read 83 degrees even though it was set at 68 degrees on the first level. The second level of the house read 89 degrees. Once again called the home owner, and her response was “what do you expect it 85 to 89 degrees outside.” We expect the air-conditioning to work!! After one sleepless night, (don’t get me started about the quality of all the mattresses in the home which the owner totally purchased leftover ROCK HARD at SLEEPLESS .com NOT sleepy’s com), Day 2, I called the owner again and she sent out an air-conditioning company to check the air conditioner. He was able to lower the temp on the first level by 4 degrees, from 83 to 79 degrees. However the second level that had 3 bedrooms ( including the master) still read 83 degrees at 10:52 PM. All pictures attached. The Air-conditioning service man laughed when came to the house, as he had been to this home 4 times previously this summer, and he said ; “I have told the owner a number of times this unit is not sufficient to air-condition this 6 bedroom, 2 story home. They need a minimum of 2 central air units. One for the upstairs and one for the first level.” After a 3 rd call to owner, to speak about the UN-SLEEP ABLE conditions on the second floor she finally agreed to get a portable air-conditioning unit which was left in the driveway on the 4th night of my vacation. I had to install the portable air-conditioning unit myself into the master on the 2nd floor, still leaving the other 2 bedrooms on the second floor Un-sleepable. BTW the upstairs bathroom was not usable the entire time. Imagine the smell if you used the toilet and no circulation of air at 89 degrees. Did I mention this was a vacation, that included my parents that are in their late 80’s, designed to get them out of their home during the pandemic and bring them to a safe beach environment. Now I probably put them into an UNHEALTHY ENVIRONMENT WITH INSIDE TEMPS in the high 70’s because the home owner would not follow the advice of the professional and install a second central air unit for the second floor. ONE LAST WARNNG the 3rd bedroom on the second floor is a large cedar closet. I cannot make this up, It looks like a room from a movie where the lock children inside as punishment. To top this all off, my mother felt bad that we had spent all this money for a miserable experience so she called the owner Georgia herself to request her to do the right think and offer me a partial refund. Georgia’s reply was “Too bad, no refunds, your son just has to deal with it. It’s rude for you to even ask for a refund", and hung-up not apologetic at all. I am writing this so that no one has to experience what my family did. PLEASE, PEASE, PLEASE STAY AWAY!!! THIS IS NOT A HOME YOU WANT TO RENT!!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY AND MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I MADE.

truth be told, pictures don't lie, but renters do. The house was professionally cleaned before the tenant arrived following all cdc guidelines for sanitizing during this pandemic. The cleaning service leaves a list of products and procedures. Because this tenant complained about a band aid wrapper under a couch, the cleaners returned within an hour, only to be verbally abused by the renter. On June 29, the hvac system received it's annual check up and maintenance. Everything was a go. It was the only time, before this tenant that the hvac company was at our home. It is a complete fabrication that the tech said we needed two units, in fact the owner of the company told us bigger or additional units would cause a moisture build up and do more harm than good. The tech did report to us that were a "lot of people in the house with windows open and too many computers." The mattresses are new and firm, I'm hot sure that soft mattresses are preferable. If the renter chose not to use the bathroom on the second floor, that was his choice not a function of a nonworking bathroom. The third bedroom on the second floor is a cedar sided room that has five beds in it and most renters find it ideal for kids as a "camp style" vacation, not to lock them away, who thinks like this? I did have a conversation with Mr. Noble's mother. After about 20 minutes of everyone saying what they thought and the conversation going nowhere, I said we should end the call since progress was not being made. I did not say anything like Mr. Noble reported and I did say good bye. This rental was as unpleasant as it could be. I did everything I could to make the tenant happy. during the hottest week of the summer, but for whatever reason I was unsuccessful, sometimes nothing is enough.

Charming cottage -Sand under your feet

We loved every bit of this adorable, classic 1920’s cottage. Our family birthday reunion included two 80 year olds and a mix of kids, parents, aunts and uncles. The house accommodated all of us comfortably. The outdoor shower is magical with a trumpet vine as a natural ceiling! The secluded beach front yard is perfect for quiet reading or family games. The Atlantic Ocean is just over the bluff and offers a special view from the top deck for sundowner cocktails. We will always cherish our time in this quaint, beautifully appointed retreat.
