Beach Haven, Long Beach Island, New Jersey
Right in the heart and the history
Beach Haven, NJ was the first area on Long Beach Island to truly be developed, as visitors came via rail line to Tuckerton and then took the ferry across the bay to the “Queen City.”
Today you can still see that history in the layout, as it’s really the only part of LBI to have a specific downtown area.
Beach Haven literally has it all, from beach bungalows to charming Victorian homes and sprawling five bedroom and six bedroom houses perfect for extended families. Vacation rentals on the southern end of town are quiet and cozy, or you can stay in the middle of the action. Search available Beach Haven, NJ vacation rentals.
Beach Haven is home to Fantasy Island and Thundering Surf, LBI’s only amusement park and waterpark. Walk the shops of Bay Village or Schooner’s Wharf. Take your pooch to the dog park by the bay off Taylor Ave. Have a beer at the popular Ship Bottom Brewery located at Bay Village.
And from simple boardwalk-style food to elaborate culinary experiences, Beach Haven is home to the Chicken or the Egg, The Black Whale, Barry’s Do Me a Flavor, Uncle Will’s Pancake House, The Gables, Pearl Street Market, The Engleside, and Tucker’s Tavern. Try the Gazebo Grill and Sushi Bar.
Eat at Buckalews or the adjacent Station 117 Tavern and Beer Garden or enjoy a classic sunset at Parker’s Garage. Beach Haven is also the party town with the Sea Shell, the fun 70s themed Bird & Betty’s and the Marlin.
It’s where you’ll find old favorites like County Kettle for fudge and chowder or the Crust and Crumble’s World Famous Elephant Ears. And Beach Haven goes late into the night at The Seashell and the Marlin.
Beach Haven also plays a big part in Island surfing history. Link up with South End Surf N’ Paddle for a day of stand up paddling (SUP) on the bay.
